Keep pets cool.

As the weather gets warmer you will need to keep them cool as much and as often as you can.

There is a number of ways to keep them cool by placing a paddling pool in a shaded area so that they can come and go as they wish. Leaving a fan on at their level so they can sit or lie down Infront of it and keep cool. Pet cool mats, collars and jackets are readily available and range from £5 to £20. Fresh cool water is a must as it keeps them hydrated and regulates their body temperature.

SIGNS OF HEAT STROKE:- heavy breathing/ panting. Confused. Sickness. Diarrhea. Shaking/weakness. Loss of co-ordination. Seizures. Drooling. Foaming at the mouth. Lethargy.

If your pet suffers from heat stroke or are having troubles in the heat then ther are a number of ways to cool them down; one way is to move them to a shady cooler area, place a wet towel or a cool mat down to lie one, fans, keep them calm and still, small sips of cold water and cool water on paws, ears and head make sure it's not cold as this could send them into shock.

If you notice that your dog still has lots of energy and wants to be kept happy then you can freeze their toys and/or treats and hide them so they can find them and keep cool. Putting a paddling pool in a cool shaded area or even do puzzles with them to them entertained.

Do not leave dogs in cars as they can die!!

Do not walk them through the day as it's the hottest part and they can burn their pads on the hot concrete or hot sand.
